Welcome to reflect on Aalto University's values!
The process of creating and developing Aalto University is progressing at a good pace. Our target is to create an innovative, multi-disciplinary university which is a good place to study, teach, conduct research and work. The creation of a successful, prosperous Aalto University requires an open discussion throughout the Aalto community, above all concerning Aalto University's central pillars. Each and every member of the Aalto community needs to contribute to achieving this tour de force.
In March, the members of the Aalto community - students, personnel and alumni - were invited to take part in a workshop on Aalto University's mission and vision. The results of this online discussion are currently being utilised for developing Aalto. The results have been communicated on various occasions and are still available at http://www.aaltoyliopisto.info and wiki.aaltoyliopisto.info. Please take a look!
The participants of the online discussion held in March also had the opportunity to send me a message - I received over 500 of them during my first day at work. I would like to thank you all for your heartfelt and encouraging messages! They provided me with valuable feedback.
Now I would like to invite you to take Aalto to the next level. This time, the focus will be on Aalto University's values: what kind of values does Aalto University need to become a success? The information gathered through this online discussion will be utilised for developing Aalto and defining its values.
Through our shared discussion of Aalto's values, we show that we are making a joint effort to build the university - our daily doings are the little drops of water that come together to create the mighty ocean of Aalto University. It is up to us to decide what kind of Aalto we wish to build. Let's embrace this challenge! Welcome to make a difference and contribute to the process of developing Aalto University. Join us in making this a great new university!
